Like many mediators I have considerable relevant experience as a solicitor and litigator.

My experience as a company director, senior partner and committee chairman is often helpful.

As a mediator I have a direct, determined, people-centric, reality testing approach with a relentless focus on getting a deal done.

From a technical perspective I have experience with:

  • Facilitative mediation: This is what might be termed routine or conventional mediation and is by far away the most common type of mediation used in this jurisdiction.
  • Time limited mediation: I have many years experience of 4 hour mediations and have also observed the Andrew Fraley 3 hour model several times.
  • Telephone mediation: following training in telephone mediation about 5 years ago (Law Works and Andrew Fraley) I have delivered this on many occasions.
  • Online mediation: I trained on online mediation with Graham Ross some years ago and have developed relationships with leading online providers (Modria Inc, ODRO) with a view to developing online mediation.
  • Deal mediation: My work with the Civil Justice Council, Ministry of Justice, Claims Portal Limited and the ABI GTA Technical Committee is all predicated on using mediation skills to make, secure and maintain high value deals (worth 7 figures +) rather than resolving disputes after the event.
  • Transformative mediation: I attended a training course in November 2013 on this model of mediation which has now become established in the USA and I am developing my experience in this area.
